Our Story
Upper Room Ministries was officially founded and registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) in January 2026 — but our journey began long before that. Founders and leaders Marcel and Angie van der Walt have been doing home church and ministering to people since 2009, faithfully gathering a group of believers week after week to soak in God's presence, worship, and pray together.
Over the years, that small group grew. More and more people came, drawn by the presence of God and the love & warmth of community...

Market Days & Events
We set up ministry tents at market days & events where people can step into a private room and receive personal prayer from our ministry team. We pray for health, marriages, finances, and anything on your heart — we believe for miracles! Watch this space for upcoming market day dates.
Business Visits
We come directly to your business — bringing prayer, encouragement, and personal ministry to your team right where they work. If you have an office, boardroom, or quiet space available, we'll use it to offer one-on-one or small group ministry to your staff — a moment to pause, be heard, and be prayed for in the middle of a busy day.
Churches & Cell Groups
We travel to churches and cell groups to preach and minister, bringing the presence and power of God. Praying for healing, restoration and freedom. Our heart is to ignite the fire of God, stir up hunger and bring people into genuine encounters with the love and presence of God.
Schools & SCA Visits
Upper Room Ministries is available to visit your school or SCA group, bringing the Word of God, prayer, and encouragement to learners. We believe every young person should have an opportunity to encounter God's love, we offer personal ministry to learners who need prayer, support, or a word of hope.
Weekly Events & Schedule
Weekly Upper Room Soaking & Worship Nights
Every week we gather together at the Upper Room for soaking time in God's presence, worship, and ministry. This is a time to encounter Jesus, be filled with the Holy Spirit, and be refreshed.
Upper Room Sessions Sunday Evenings
Every Sunday evening, we gather for Upper Room Sessions — a time of free flowing worship and sharing the word. We follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, which means every night is beautifully different, Spirit-led, and full of expectation.
Link FM Radio Monday Mornings at 8:30am
Join us every Monday morning at 8:30 AM on Link FM, Christian radio station, as Upper Room Ministries takes to the airwaves — live ministry, sharing the Word and bringing the presence of God right into your home, car, or workplace. Tune in and be encouraged!
Marriage & Relationship Counselling
Marcel and Angie believe in dating with purpose — dating to marry. They have a heart for walking alongside young couples guiding them toward a God-centred relationship and marriage. They offer Faith based counselling for marriage and dating.

A safe space for women to grow together — with our focus on making Jesus first as King of our hearts and letting everything else flow from that. Openly sharing about love, purity, and marriage. A safe place to ask questions!
Marriage, Relationship & Family Mentoring
Marcel and Angie believe in dating with purpose — dating to marry. They have a heart for walking alongside young couples who are just starting out, guiding them toward a God-centred relationship and marriage. They also mentor families and young adults who are new in their journey with the Lord — offering wisdom, encouragement, and a safe space to grow.
Marriage, Relationship & Family Counselling
Sibu and Gcogco have walked a long and faithful road with the Lord, and carry with them a deep well of grace and wisdom. They have a profound understanding of the spiritual dimensions of cultural and ancestral traditions — their heart is to bring truth, clarity and see people truly set free.

Nights of soaking in God's Presence, sharing the word, worship and prayer.
